What a Perimeter Means on a Corporate Site Boundary

What gives Etimesgut its character is the district's aviation industry past and the military facilities it hosts. That history left behind large corporate campuses, staff housing and plots on a generous scale. On land like this a fence does far more than mark off a garden; it defines the controlled boundary of the facility. It is the physical answer to the question of where free movement ends and where control begins.

On corporate boundaries the continuity and the uniformity of the run both matter. A boundary patched together over the years with different products looks untidy, and it is only ever as strong as its weakest section. Choosing one system for the whole campus perimeter is therefore sounder than adding pieces to it later. Panel fence holds the line true over long distances thanks to its modular build, and it lets the work be split into phases.

Maintenance is the other issue at campus scale. On a long boundary, damage almost always starts at a single point: a falling tree limb, a vehicle that clips the line, a patch of ground that settles. The advantage of a modular system is that the damaged bay can be swapped out on its own. Where the solution has to be fabricated in place, even minor damage turns into a long repair.

A Layered Approach on Controlled Sites

A single fence line, however high it is built, is still a single layer of obstacle. The method used on sites that genuinely need control is to delay a crossing rather than to stop it at one point: the longer somebody has to spend getting through, the higher the chance that they are noticed.

On that logic a tight-mesh 358 high security fence makes hand and foot holds difficult, while flat wrap razor wire along the top deters anyone going over it. Before you add layers, work out which elevation is genuinely exposed. Applying the same measure to every metre inflates the budget without cause, and more often than not it consumes the allowance that should have gone to the weak side.

What sits around a fence matters as much as the fence itself. A tree growing right up to the line, a stack of pallets or a vehicle parked against the boundary will turn even the best perimeter into a step. Keeping a clear strip on both sides of the line takes no materials at all, and it is one of the measures that pays back most.

Estate Fencing in Eryaman and Elvankent

The second face of the district is Eryaman and Elvankent. In that dense estate fabric the demand rarely comes from security. It comes from organising shared space: a garden boundary, separating the car park, keeping lawn apart from the footpath, defining the ground in front of each block.

For estate managements the deciding factor is appearance. A run facing the block frontages should read as part of the landscaping rather than as a bare boundary. To soften wall and railing surfaces, artificial grass fence is used. At the decision stage the annual upkeep load deserves counting in as well; on estates, ease of maintenance over the long run can weigh more heavily than the initial outlay.

The point most often missed when measuring estate boundaries is that the existing walls and kerbs sit at different heights. Once a few centimetres of level difference accumulate along the same elevation, the run visibly leans. Reading levels at a handful of intermediate points along a long frontage is far easier than putting it right afterwards. Aligning gates and crossing points with the block entrances is what decides how comfortable the line is in daily use.

Working Out Heights for Playgrounds and Sports Pitches

On estate playgrounds and five-a-side pitches the job of the perimeter is to keep the ball and the children inside it. Height is therefore set on completely different logic from a security line: the run rises on the sides the ball can leave from and may drop on the flanks.

• On play areas no gap should be left at the bottom; the space between the ground and the run has to be closed off.
• Surfaces children will touch must carry no sharp ends or protrusions; razor products are never used in these areas.
• Shade net can be run along the line to cut sun and wind, but a solid surface raises the wind load, so post spacing has to be tightened to suit it.
• Where impact is constant, behind a goal for instance, a larger post section is chosen than on the other elevations.

The only parts that need maintenance in these areas are the fixings. On surfaces children handle all day, a fixing working loose shows itself quickly. A quick walk along the line at the start of the season is enough for both safety and appearance.

Vehicle and Pedestrian Control at the Campus Entrance

On large plots the entrance is the most used part of the line and the fastest to wear. Running vehicles and people on foot through the same opening creates trouble for security and for traffic flow alike.

Where there is room to swing, a double swing gate is the usual choice; leaf weight drives the hinge and post sections directly, so the clear width should not be overstated. On entrances with heavy vehicle traffic that open and close all day, automatic barrier systems lift the cycle rate. Designing the two together makes it possible to open the large gate only when a heavy vehicle comes in.

Separating pedestrians from the vehicle gate is not only a security question. Every opening of a large gate costs time and wear. When staff and visitor traffic runs through its own opening, the main gate works far less during the day and its service life lengthens accordingly.

Measurement and Quotation in Corporate Procurement

In corporate buying, quotations have to be comparable. If two quotes for the same site carry different heights, different post spacings and different wire diameters, putting the figures side by side means nothing. Fixing the technical criteria when the enquiry goes out is what brings the quotes onto common ground.

At the measuring stage the boundary length, the number of corners, the level differences, the gate openings and the heights of existing walls are all recorded. Because site survey is free within Ankara, taking those figures on site adds no cost. On work that will run in phases, which elevation the first phase starts from should be planned from the outset as well.

Including these items in an enquiry keeps the returning quotes describing the same job: total run length, target height, post spacing, the number and width of gates, ground type, level differences and any topping required. Where that information is missing, every supplier prices on its own assumptions and the comparison loses its meaning.
