What Are Panel and Fence Systems?

Panel and fence systems are modular perimeter products that physically define the boundary of a site, made up of factory-welded wire panels and the posts that carry them. The basic difference from rolled mesh is that a panel arrives in a fixed size, as a taut and ready-tensioned surface. That removes the tensioning labour on site, and there is no sagging or waving over the years. The horizontal and vertical bends pressed into the panel face, the omega ribs, give it rigidity; even with a thin wire diameter they deliver high torsional resistance.

AnkaraTel sells this entire product group from its warehouse in Ostim, Ankara and sends it to every province in Türkiye by parcel carrier or by freight. Site surveys before the project are free of charge within Ankara; delivery is charged, including deliveries within Ankara. Installation is not one of our standard services; our teams attend site only on perimeter projects of approximately 1,000 metres and above.

Which Product Suits Which Need? (Selection Guide)

The six products in this group are not alternatives to one another; each of them solves a different problem. To make the right choice, answer three questions in order: Is the fence permanent or temporary? Is the aim to mark a boundary, to deter intruders, or to block the view? Is the ground fixed, or will the line be moved often?

For a standard plot, factory yard or housing estate perimeter, your starting point should be the Panel Fence; the balance of cost and strength is at its best in this product. Where the risk of intrusion is high, where there is a history of theft or where critical equipment is kept, the narrow-aperture 358 High Security Fence is chosen instead; its mesh aperture is too tight for fingers or hand tools, so it cannot be climbed and is not easily cut with pliers.

If the life of the perimeter is limited to the length of the project, do not tie money up in a permanent product: on excavation and demolition sites the Construction Safety Barrier is the right choice, and where the line moves often it is the Temporary Fence. Neither is set in concrete; both can be dismantled and reused on another site. If the aim is not security but blocking the view, there are two routes: the Louvre Fence, with vertical slats fed through the panel apertures, or the artificial-grass-textured Artificial Grass Fence. The louvre fence is more economical and lasts longer; the artificial grass fence looks visually softer in gardens, cafes and sports areas where a green texture is wanted.

Technical Selection Criteria: Wire Diameter, Mesh Aperture and Coating

Three variables decide the price and the strength of a panel fence. Wire diameter is normally offered as 4 mm and 5 mm; 4 mm is enough for housing and plot boundaries, while 5 mm is recommended for industrial sites, land under pressure from livestock and exposed areas with a high wind load. Mesh aperture is 50x200 mm on standard panels; on security fences that aperture narrows step by step and climb resistance rises.

Coating is what decides service life directly. A galvanized-only panel is cost-effective on industrial and rural sites. Panels finished with polyester electrostatic powder coating over galvanizing suit coastal and humid regions, and projects with an appearance requirement; the most popular colours are green and anthracite. The same logic applies to the posts: if the panel is coated and the post is left as bare galvanized, the visual whole breaks down and the post ages sooner.

Panel Height and Post Selection

The job of the fence decides the height. Low panels are enough for garden and landscape boundaries; medium heights suit livestock control, car parks and school grounds; and the tallest grades are used at depots, factories and energy facilities, with a barbed wire or razor wire carrier arm added on top where needed.

On the post side there are two options: profile posts and steel tube posts. Profile posts work with a panel fixing clip and give a neat, modern appearance. Steel tube posts are common on chain link systems and tension wire applications. Where the ground is concrete, flanged (footed) posts must be fixed with steel anchors rather than plastic plugs; on soil ground, allow a buried length of about one fifth of the post and a concrete footing.

Where Are They Used?

Panel fence systems are used on housing estates, private gardens, school and dormitory grounds, factory and warehouse perimeters, solar power plants, farmland, water reservoirs, substations, car parks, sports pitches and municipal parks. For temporary uses such as construction and event areas, temporary fence and construction barrier come to the fore. On livestock operations a panel fence is often backed up along the bottom with welded mesh panel, closing the gap at ground level against small livestock and poultry.

How Much Material Do You Need?

Working out the running meters is simple, and it must be done before ordering. First measure the perimeter of the land in metres. The number of panels is found by dividing the perimeter length by the width of a single panel. The number of posts is one more than the number of panels, plus one extra post for every corner point. Do not forget to deduct the total width of the gate openings from the perimeter length.

Fixings count too: three to five clamps or clips are generally used per panel. On sloping land the panels have to be stepped, so it is sensible to allow around five percent for waste. If you are not sure of your measurements, our site survey within Ankara is free of charge; on out-of-town projects we work the running meters out from a sketch, a title plan or a satellite image and send you the list ourselves.

What Sets the Price?

A panel fence price does not depend on a single item. The decisive headings are: wire diameter, panel height, coating type (galvanized, or galvanized and powder coated), post section and wall thickness, the number of fixings, the order quantity and the delivery distance. The cost per metre falls as the quantity rises; one full truckload is always better value than sending the same goods piece by piece.

All our published prices include VAT, and because they follow the steel market, quotations are issued with a set validity period. Send us your product and your running meters and we will prepare an itemised quotation.

Ordering, Shipping and Installation

The ordering process is clear: we take the product and running meter details, prepare a VAT-included quotation, and once it is approved the goods are dispatched from our warehouse in Ostim. Small-volume orders go by parcel carrier, while bulky items such as panels and posts travel by freight lorry. Delivery is charged; deliveries within Ankara are charged as well, and nothing is shipped free of charge. The shipping cost is shown as a separate line in the quotation, based on distance, tonnage and volume.

Installation is not one of our standard services. Panel fence systems are designed to be installed with basic hand tools, and most of our customers complete the work with their own team or a local fitter. On large perimeter projects of approximately 1,000 metres and above, our installation team does attend site; in that case labour and accommodation are added to the quotation as separate items.

FAQ

Panel and Fence Systems — common questions

What is the difference between a panel fence and chain link fence?

A panel fence is a factory-welded, fixed-size and rigid surface that needs no tensioning on site. Chain link fence comes in rolls, is stretched between the posts with a tension wire, and tends to sag over time. The panel fence gives a neater appearance and higher torsional resistance, while chain link is more economical on long rural runs.

Should I choose 4 mm or 5 mm wire diameter?

For normal loads such as a house garden, a plot boundary or landscape fencing, a 4 mm wire diameter is enough. For factories, depots, land under pressure from livestock and exposed areas with a high wind load, 5 mm is recommended. If you are undecided, let the panel height guide you; the taller the fence, the thicker the wire should be.

How often does a panel fence need a post?

Post spacing is fixed by the panel width, since both ends of every panel are fixed to a post. That is why the number of posts is generally one more than the number of panels, with one extra post added for every corner point. Gate openings should be deducted from the perimeter length.

Which lasts longer, a coated panel or a galvanized panel?

Panels finished with polyester electrostatic powder coating over hot-dip galvanizing last longer in humid and coastal regions, because they carry two layers of protection against corrosion. Galvanized-only panels are a cost-effective solution in dry inland regions and on industrial sites. On projects with an appearance requirement, the coated panel is the one to choose.

Are a temporary fence and a construction safety barrier the same product?

No. A temporary fence sits on a concrete base, is clamped panel to panel, and is designed for uses that move often, such as event areas and car parks. A construction safety barrier is there for safety around sites and excavations, where higher impact resistance and a warning function come first. Both can be dismantled and reused.

For blocking the view, louvre fence or artificial grass fence?

A louvre fence blocks the view with slats fed through the panel apertures; it is more economical, easy to clean and long-lasting against the weather. An artificial grass fence gives a green appearance with its artificial grass texture and looks visually softer in gardens, cafes and sports areas. At points with a high wind load, the post section has to be increased.

Do you offer an installation service?

Installation is not one of our standard services. Panel fence systems are designed to be installed with basic hand tools, and most of our customers complete the work with their own team or a local fitter. On large perimeter projects of approximately 1,000 metres and above our installation team does attend site, and the labour is added to the quotation separately.
