Pitch fencing is a project, not an off-the-shelf product
Fencing an artificial turf pitch is not a boxed product sitting on a shelf; it is a perimeter project built around the dimensions of your own pitch. That is why you will not find a size and price table on this page, but the technical framework you need to ask the right questions about your own pitch.
Let us also be clear about where our work ends: we manufacture and sell the fencing materials — posts, panels, welded wire mesh, gates and fixings, as a complete itemized list. We do not claim to deliver the whole pitch; turf laying, drainage and lighting are separate specializations, and you will need contractors who do that work. On fencing jobs of approximately 1000 metres and above, our teams also attend site for the installation.
Drawing that line early also matters for your project schedule. The foundations for the fence posts are poured before the turf goes down; when the sequence slips, you either excavate over fresh turf or interrupt the turf laying for post foundations. The correct order is: fix the pitch dimensions and levels, mark out the fence posts and lighting columns, pour the foundations, run the cable routes, lay the turf, and install the fencing materials last.
Standard pitch dimensions and perimeter lengths
In Turkey the vast majority of commercial pitches are built to the seven-a-side format. The common dimensions and the running meters of fencing they call for are as follows:

Perimeter length comes from a simple formula: perimeter = 2 x (width + length). For a 25 x 45 m pitch that gives 2 x (25 + 45) = 140 metres. On seven- and eight-a-side pitches the fence usually sits at the edge of the playing area; on eleven-a-side pitches it is set back at least 2-3 metres from the touchline, so the running meters exceed the playing area dimensions.
What height should you choose?
The height decision comes down to a single question: where does the ball escape? The sides and the ends behind the goals do not need the same height.
- Sides (4 metres): balls that go out sideways generally travel low. 4 metres is enough on most commercial pitches.
- Behind the goals (6 metres): a ball off a shot goes high. On pitches that stop at 4 metres behind the goal the ball goes out constantly and a member of staff spends the day fetching it. That is why the ends are always built higher.
- Surroundings: if there is a road, a parking area, a glazed building or a neighboring plot behind the pitch, the height goes up. On roadside pitches the ends can go beyond 6 metres.
- Overhead cover (roof net): in built-up areas, on tight plots or where upper floors overlook the pitch, the pitch is covered over with netting. A roof net puts additional load on the fence posts; the post section and the foundations have to be selected accordingly.
Which products are used?
Pitch fencing is not one single material but a layered build-up:
- Load-bearing posts: a galvanized steel tube post. Because you are working at 4-6 metres, the post section is chosen noticeably heavier than for a garden fence and it is set into a reinforced concrete foundation. Post spacing is typically 2.5-3 metres.
- Lower zone (0-2 metres): this is where the ball hits hardest. A rigid surface is the right choice here; a panel fence resists impact better than chain link fence and holds its shape.
- Upper zone (above 2 metres): the higher you go, the weaker the impact and the more flexibility matters. This zone is usually covered with galvanized chain link fence or netting.
- Gates: a pedestrian gate for the players, plus a wider leaf for the maintenance vehicle and the turf grooming machine.
Netting or welded wire mesh?
There is no single right answer here; both have honest advantages and drawbacks.
Welded wire mesh (galvanized chain link fence) has a long service life, resists cutting and tearing and secures the site as well. In return it bounces a hard ball straight back, and it sags once the tension slackens. Netting swallows the ball, kills the rebound and does not spoil the game; but it fatigues under the sun over the years, tears and has to be replaced periodically. Netting also gives you no security — it will not keep anyone off the pitch at night.
The solution used most often in practice combines the two: welded wire mesh or panels in the lower and middle zones, netting across the upper part behind the goals. That way you get security and playing comfort at once.
If you go for welded wire mesh, the wire diameter and the mesh aperture also affect the quality of the game. A tight aperture in thick wire is more durable but increases the rebound; a wide aperture in thin wire behaves more softly, yet it flexes under hard shots and sags in time. To hold the tension, line wires have to be run along the bottom, middle and top of each run and tightened periodically. The clearest sign of slack mesh is the ball starting to bounce off in unexpected directions; as soon as you notice that, the tension needs adjusting.
Clashes with the lighting columns
The design mistake we see most often is the attempt to combine the lighting column with the fence post. On paper it looks like a saving; on site it turns out expensive.
A lighting column stands 8-10 metres tall, carries several floodlights at the top and takes a high wind load, so it needs a much deeper and wider reinforced foundation than a fence post. Load the same column with the tension of the fencing wire and the wind load of the fence as well, and it leans over time, the floodlights lose their aim and shadows appear on the pitch.
The right approach is to separate them: the lighting columns are set 50-80 cm outside the fence line on their own foundations, and the fence line runs unbroken in front of them. The cable route for the lighting also has to be planned before the fence foundations are poured; cutting a trench once the concrete is down costs money and time.
What determines the quoted price?
Fencing an artificial turf pitch is priced project by project. These are the items that shape the quotation:
- Total perimeter running meters and the dimensions of the pitch
- Fence height — between 4 metres and 6 metres both the materials and the post section change noticeably
- Post section, wall thickness and post spacing
- Material build-up — welded wire mesh throughout, or panels below and netting above
- Whether there is overhead cover (a roof net) and the additional post load that comes with it
- Number and type of gates
- Ground conditions — rocky ground makes the foundation excavation harder, soft ground calls for deeper foundations
- Delivery distance and method of transport

How do you get a quotation?
Three pieces of information are enough: the width and length of the pitch, the side and end heights you want, and the location of the pitch and its ground conditions. If you are considering overhead cover, say so, because it affects the choice of post from the outset.
On that basis we draw up an itemized material list of posts, panels, welded wire mesh, netting, gates and fixings, and price it line by line. If you are in Ankara, the site survey is free; we measure the pitch on site and see the ground and the surroundings for ourselves.
Delivery and the limits of our installation service
We ship from our warehouse in Ostim to all 81 provinces of Turkey. Delivery is always charged, and that holds for deliveries within Ankara too; we do not offer free delivery.
Let us be clear about installation: it is not a standard service. Our teams attend site on fencing projects of approximately 1000 metres and above. Below that we send the material complete and give your own installers technical support by phone on post spacing, foundation sizes and the assembly sequence. What size is a standard artificial turf football pitch?
In Turkey the most common seven-a-side pitch measures 25 x 45 metres. Mini and training pitches are built at 20 x 40 m and large pitches at 30 x 50 m. Eleven-a-side pitches sit within the FIFA range of 64-75 x 100-110 metres.
How many metres of fencing does a pitch need?
You find it with the formula perimeter = 2 x (width + length). A standard 25 x 45 metre pitch therefore needs 2 x (25 + 45) = 140 metres of fencing. On eleven-a-side pitches the fence is set 2-3 metres back from the touchline, so the running meters come out higher than the playing area dimensions.
