What is galvanized and PVC coated welded mesh?

Welded mesh is a lattice surface made by laying straight steel wires at right angles and joining them at every crossing with a resistance (spot) weld. Welded rather than woven, the product has no give in it: it stands on its own and holds a rigid surface whose apertures never pull out of line. This page covers the made-to-measure version of that surface, with mesh aperture, wire diameter, width and length set by your project.

Two coatings are available. On galvanized mesh the wire carries a zinc coating that lasts for years outdoors. On galvanized + PVC mesh a plastic sheath is drawn over the zinc-coated wire, adding a second protective layer and a colour. PVC coated mesh is the usual choice in damp or chemically loaded environments and wherever appearance matters.

Why are there no stock sizes or list prices?

This is not a shelf item but a made-to-order fabrication. Every combination of mesh aperture and wire diameter means a different jig setting, a different welding programme and a different amount of wire. Two panels of the same size, one in 2 mm wire and one in 4 mm, differ in weight several times over, so a single list price is not possible.

Instead we prepare a separate quotation for each job from your sizes, quantity and coating. If a standard size already does what you need, the ready-made panels on the welded mesh panel page are quicker and cheaper; project-based fabrication is for where standard sizes fall short.

What sizes can be produced?

The table headings are the parameters to pin down at quotation stage. The ranges we can run depend on line capacity and order quantity; send us your dimensions and we will confirm whether your combination is feasible. Special sizes in small quantities may not be viable, in which case we will point you to the nearest standard size.

Galvanized or galvanized + PVC?

The coating decision follows from where the mesh will sit:

• Galvanized: Enough for general work in normal climates, indoors or out, where you still want a long service life. It costs less and lets you step up to a thicker wire on the same budget.
• Galvanized + PVC: For the coast, high humidity, greenhouses, food and agricultural operations, permanently irrigated areas and anywhere appearance counts. The plastic sheath seals the zinc off from air and moisture completely, and gives you a colour choice.

The order of welding and coating matters too. Coated after welding, the weld points sit under the coating, so the intersections, the areas most exposed to corrosion, stay protected. Welded from pre-coated wire, the coating is weakened by heat at every weld point. Which method we use depends on the production plan and the service life you need, and we cover it at quotation stage. The same logic applies to plain wire: PVC coated galvanized wire for tying and tensioning keeps the whole job in one protection class.

Where is it used?

• Machine and line guarding: Conveyors, robot cells and danger-zone enclosures, with the aperture set by the safety requirement.
• Livestock buildings: Poultry, small ruminant and cage systems; where standard sizes fall short, partitions and floor mesh are made to order. If standard sizes suit, PVC coated chicken wire is faster.
• Warehouse, racking and ceiling voids: Rack-back panels, anti-fall mesh, plant room partitions.
• Gardens and landscaping: Climbing plant supports, decorative screens, gabion basket fabrication.
• Balconies, terraces and pool surrounds: Close-aperture protection that does not spoil the view.
• Filtering and screening: Coarse screening surfaces. For fine screening and filtration, woven screen mesh is the right product.

When is project-based fabrication needed?

Bespoke production is not always necessary; most jobs are solved with standard products. You move to project-based fabrication when:

• The aperture you need is outside the standard range, for instance very fine or rectangular.
• Panel width or length is non-standard and cutting waste runs unacceptably high.
• A heavier wire is needed because the surface has to carry a load.
• Coloured PVC coating or a special edge finish is required.
• You need many identical pieces, where bespoke production saves the cutting labour and works out cheaper overall.

For a conventional job such as enclosing an estate, a school or a factory, however, panel fence is almost always quicker and cheaper than made-to-measure mesh; it is mass produced and its fittings are on the shelf.

What information do you need to quote?

Six pieces of information are enough for a sound quotation, quickly:

1. Mesh aperture: Centimetres by centimetres. If you are unsure, describe the smallest object the mesh has to hold back and we will recommend one.
2. Wire diameter: The diameter if you know it, otherwise the load the surface must take and what it is for.
3. Panel size and quantity: Width × length and how many; for rolls, the width and total metres.
4. Coating: Galvanized or galvanized + PVC, and for PVC your colour preference.
5. Where it will be used: Indoors, outdoors, greenhouse, coastal and so on. The coating decision hangs largely on this.
6. Delivery province and deadline: Where it is going and when it has to be there.

A rough sketch or a photograph saves a lot of back and forth. If you are in Ankara, site surveys are free of charge and we can measure the job ourselves.

What determines the price?

On made-to-measure work the price follows the amount of steel in the panel and the production set-up behind it. The deciding items are:

• Wire diameter: The biggest single factor; as diameter rises, the steel weight per square metre climbs fast.
• Mesh aperture: The tighter the aperture, the more wire and weld points in the same square metre.
• Coating type: Galvanized and galvanized + PVC differ in both material and labour; zinc coating weight and PVC thickness also feed in.
• Quantity and total square metres: Line set-up is a fixed preparation cost. Spread over many pieces it brings the unit price down sharply; on small quantities it stays high.
• Special operations: Folded edges, framing, leaving openings and similar extras are separate labour items.
• The steel market: Raw material prices and the exchange rate feed through weekly, which is why quotations carry a stated validity period.
• Shipping: The product is heavy and bulky; weight, volume and distance set the transport charge. Delivery is charged.

All the prices we publish include VAT.

Production, shipment and delivery

The process runs like this: you send the dimensions and quantities, we confirm they can be produced and quote, and on your approval the job enters the production schedule. Bespoke production is not instant like shipping from stock; the lead time depends on the line schedule and the order book, and is stated clearly in the quotation. On urgent jobs, discuss the deadline up front.

Once production is finished the goods leave our Ostim warehouse for every province in Türkiye by courier or freight carrier. Flat panels take up volume, so orders above a certain quantity are palletised and sent by freight. Delivery is charged in every case, including deliveries within Ankara; the charge is calculated from the weight, volume and distance of the order and shown as a separate line on the quotation.

Installation is not one of our standard services. Our teams attend site only on perimeter projects of roughly 1,000 metres and above; below that we produce and ship the product and give you technical support by phone wherever you get stuck.
