When Is a 300 cm Post Needed?

After the foundation section, a 300 cm angled post leaves roughly 240-250 cm of working height. That is a fence clearly above human height, and combined with barbed wire along the top bend it makes climbing very difficult. This length is chosen where access control is critical: military areas, fuel and energy facilities, logistics depots, prison perimeters and airport margins.

The difference from 240 cm looks like just 60 cm, but it is decisive: a 240 cm fence sits at the limit of what can be climbed unaided, while a 300 cm fence effectively requires assistance.

Foundation and Strength

The taller the post, the greater the overturning moment; foundation depth for a 300 cm post is therefore taken as 60-70 cm with a larger concrete volume. On exposed land with high wind loads, widening the foundation is more effective than deepening it.

At this height, corner posts must be built with double struts. When wire tension and wind load combine on a tall fence, a single strut is often not enough.

Complementary Products

A 300 cm post is usually combined with 200 cm panel fencing or wire mesh, with barbed or concertina razor wire along the top bend.
