Where Is the 200 cm Concrete Post Used?

A 200 cm concrete post leaves roughly 150-160 cm of working height above ground; the remainder is set into a concrete foundation. This length is the most common choice for garden boundaries, field lines, grazing areas and low wire mesh fencing. Where higher security is needed, 240 cm and taller posts are used.

The post is a straight type, with no angled top to carry barbed wire. Wire mesh, welded mesh or panel fencing is fixed directly to the post. Combined with galvanised wire mesh it will run for years without maintenance.

Post Spacing and Installation

Concrete posts are usually set at 2.5-3 metre intervals. The wider the spacing, the more the wire sags, so on exposed windy land it is better to keep the spacing at 2.5 metres. Adding struts at corners and beside gates keeps the wire under tension for years.

Foundation depth depends on the ground; 40-50 cm is enough in normal soil, while loose or sandy ground needs a deeper concreted foundation. The wire should not be tensioned until the concrete has set.

How Many Posts Do You Need?

Divide the total run by the spacing and add an allowance for corners and gates. On a 100 metre perimeter at 3 metre spacing you get roughly 34 posts; ordering 37-38 including corners and struts prevents running short. Send us your measurements and we will list the posts, wire and fixings together.
